Western Sydney Airport (WSI): flights, getting there and parking

Short answer: Western Sydney International Airport (WSI) opens to passengers on Sunday 25 October 2026. At first only Jetstar (Melbourne, Gold Coast, Brisbane) and Air New Zealand (Auckland, from 26 October) fly there, with Singapore Airlines from 23 November and Qantas from March 2027.
There's no train yet: drive, take a bus, or catch the free shuttle from St Marys station. Parking starts at $15 a day.
Sydney now has two airports, on opposite sides of the city. If you've booked a cheap flight to or from "Sydney" lately, it's worth checking which one it is. Here's what's flying from the new airport, how to get there without a train line, and what parking costs.
Which Sydney airport is my flight from?
Look at the three-letter code on your booking or boarding pass. Many booking sites list both airports as "Sydney", so the code is the reliable check.
| Western Sydney International | Sydney Airport | |
|---|---|---|
| Code | WSI | SYD |
| Where | Badgerys Creek, 44 km west of the CBD | Mascot, near the city |
| Train | None yet (free shuttle from St Marys) | Airport Link train line |
| Airlines | Jetstar, Air New Zealand, then Singapore Airlines and Qantas | More than 50 |
| Curfew | None planned from 1 November 2026 | 11pm to 6am |
Airlines and routes
| Airline | To | Starts | How often |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jetstar | Melbourne | 25 Oct 2026 | Up to 14 a week |
| Jetstar | Gold Coast | 25 Oct 2026 | 4 a week |
| Jetstar | Brisbane | 25 Oct 2026 | 3 a week |
| Air New Zealand | Auckland | 26 Oct 2026 | 3 a week (Mon, Wed, Fri) |
| Singapore Airlines | Singapore | 23 Nov 2026 | Daily |
| Qantas | Melbourne and Brisbane | 28 Mar 2027 | 4 a week to each |
The first passenger flight is Jetstar's 11am departure to the Gold Coast on opening day. Air New Zealand is the first international airline, flying A320 and A321 jets. That's a short list next to Mascot, so if you're connecting onto another airline, you'll most likely be doing it at Sydney Airport instead.
1By train and the free shuttle
There's no train station at the airport yet. The Sydney Metro line that will link the terminal to St Marys is still being built, and its opening date hasn't been confirmed; the NSW Premier has said it could slip to 2028.
Until then, take a train to St Marys and catch the WSI Link, a free shuttle bus. It runs every 30 minutes, from 4:30am to midnight Sunday to Thursday, and until 1am on Friday and Saturday nights. At St Marys it leaves from the Nariel Street bus stop.
2By bus
Five regular Transport for NSW bus routes run to the terminal every 30 minutes, 5am to 10pm, every day. Pay with Opal or a contactless card.
| Route | From | Via |
|---|---|---|
| 772 | Mount Druitt | St Clair |
| 790 | Penrith | Kingswood, Nepean Hospital |
| 825 | Liverpool | Bonnyrigg |
| 845 | Campbelltown | Oran Park |
| 860 | Liverpool | Leppington |
Each route starts at a train station, so you can come by train from most of Sydney and change once. Check the last bus if you land late: these routes stop at 10pm, and the WSI Link is the latest way out.
3By car, taxi or rideshare
The new M12 Motorway runs from the M7 at Cecil Hills to the airport and is toll-free. There's a free 15-minute express drop-off and pick-up zone outside the terminal, and taxi ranks and rideshare pick-up zones right outside too. Taxis don't have a fixed fare to the airport, so the meter should be on unless you've pre-booked.
Parking prices
Launch prices for travel from 25 October 2026 to the end of April 2027, across more than 6,000 spaces:
| Car park | From | Getting to the terminal |
|---|---|---|
| Long-stay | $15 a day | Free shuttle bus |
| Saver | $29 a day | 2 to 3 minute walk |
| Premium | $49 a day | 2 to 3 minute walk |
Booking online is cheaper, and the car parks read your number plate, so there's no ticket to lose.
Before you leave for WSI
- Your booking says WSI, not SYD
- You've planned the trip there: there's no train to the terminal yet
- If you land after 10pm, you know the last WSI Link shuttle time
- Parking booked online if you're driving
- Flight times checked on the day: new airports often adjust schedules in the first weeks
Checked 23 October 2026, two days before opening. Routes, start dates, bus times and parking prices can change, especially in a new airport's first months. Check with your airline and Transport for NSW before you travel.
Questions people ask
Is there a train to Western Sydney Airport?
Not yet. The Sydney Metro line to the airport is still being built and has no confirmed opening date. Until it opens, take a train to St Marys and the free WSI Link shuttle bus from there, or one of five bus routes from Penrith, Mount Druitt, Liverpool, Campbelltown or Leppington.
Does Western Sydney Airport have a curfew?
It's planned to run around the clock. Sydney Airport in Mascot has an 11pm to 6am curfew; Western Sydney International is expected to operate without one from 1 November 2026.
What is the airport code for Western Sydney Airport?
WSI. Sydney Airport in Mascot is SYD. Check which one your booking says, because both appear as "Sydney" on many booking sites.
Can I visit the terminal without flying?
Yes. The airport is offering three hours of free parking for people who want to look around the new terminal, from 26 October 2026, for a limited time. It has to be booked online.
